About Our Sanctuary
It is with great regret we cannot take any additional cats
into our sanctuary until further notice - we simply have
no more room. We have rescued over 40 cats in the past six
months alone. It has been a difficult kitten season this
year. Finding homes for kittens and cats is a very slow process,
and we do not yet have the turnover that we would like.
If you rescue an animal, we are able to help you if you can
foster and care for it.
We appreciate your patience as we raise funding to build
out extensions to our existing sanctuary so that we may bring
more cats in to care for.

If you are looking for someone to take on a
cat that has special needs, please contact us so we can assist
you with other rescue groups that may have room. Please do
not give up on them, all cats deserve a life.
Animal Rescue and Care Network, Inc. Sanctuary
Our Sanctuary is a forever home to 75 cats. Since 2003, the
Animal Rescue and Care Network, Inc. Sanctuary has been a
private independent sanctuary for cats who need and deserve
to be cared for. We house adoptable kittens and cats, and
a multitude of cats that, for various reasons, are not suitable
to be rehomed as pets in a normal domestic home. Most of
these cats are very hard to adopt. We have various ranges of cats from those that are very shy to old cats with no teeth. We
have cats with terminal cancer, declawed cats that were abandoned
and have reverted to being feral but are unable to protect
themselves, to cats that have simply been passed over at
our adoption fairs year after year.
Our sanctuary is situated in beautiful San Juan Bautista
with branches in Gilroy and San Martin.
The goal is to make each cat in our sanctuary feel loved
and at home. Many cats require medical attention or special
diets. But mostly, these cats need a tremendous amount of
love which we readily give daily. They would never have a
chance at a local shelter. But we feel they deserve a chance
to live with us so we do everything we can to care for them
in the hopes of finding most of them a forever home We seem
to have developed a specialty for cats with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency
Virus) which is a much misunderstood virus. These cats live
normal, healthy lives but for some reason live with a stigma
that prevents them from being adopted as readily as normal
healthy cats. We feel these cats are our most loving bunch
and we challenge you to find a lap they won't jump on.
Sanctuary Accommodations
Because we are a new organization, our shelter is small.
Our accommodations consist of three rooms and two separate
outdoor enclosures where we group cats according to age,
need, and disposition. We provide lots of cubby-holes, cat
trees, living room chairs, and kitty beds. We have toys everywhere
and everyone's all time favorite, a park bench next to a
tree within an enclosure where cats can climb and see birdies.
Our Sanctuary has electricity, running water, and a washer
and dryer to ensure bedding is clean and sanitary at all
times.
Our plans next spring are to put up a new building that can
serve as an adoption center. This new facility would be able
to house 30 additional rescues. We feel it's important to
sit down quietly and bond with your new family member to
ensure a good fit. It would also give our special needs kitties
a chance to be seen. At this time it's too traumatic for
them to participate at our adoption fairs.
If you would like to visit our sanctuary, special tours are
granted upon request.
Funding
We have initially funded everything ourselves, but this quickly
became impossible to sustain. We continue to depend on donations
to keep our Sanctuary running and growing. All the cats owe
their lives to the people that donate money to help them.
At this time, we do not offer individual kitty sponsorships
as we feel each cat in our sanctuary deserves just as much
as the other. We pool our donations and gifts to ensure every
cat gets what they need for a comfortable long and healthy
life.
