Why Spay and Neuter

Each year millions of kittens and puppies are euthanized due to overpopulation. Statistics show that 10-12 million pets are euthanized annually in the United States. Using the lower figure of 10 million, that's 192,308 per week or 27,473 pets killed every 24 hours, 365 days a year. If you think kittens and puppies aren't put to sleep because they are cute babies, you're wrong. The majority of animals put to sleep are pets that are too young to adopt. If you do not spay or neuter your pet because you want your kids to experience the "miracle of birth," make sure you schedule an appointment at the shelter to see what happens to the majority of the animals that are there so they understand the realities of overpopulation. "But I have homes for all these kittens." Yes, and for every kitten you place in a home, a kitten who doesn't get a home at the shelter is scheduled to die. That is the reality. A kitten is not a cute baby; it's a pet that requires a great deal of responsibility. For the price of a meal at a Fast Food Restaurant for a family of three, you can spay or neuter your pet and help avoid the enormous suffering and heartbreak these pets endure until their unhappy ending. It is overly confusing and frustrating that a country as brilliant, advanced, and caring as ours has so much suffering behind closed doors.

Neuter Your Male Cats

  • Avoid pet overpopulation
  • Neutered cats are less likely to spray strong urine
  • Neutered cats will be less likely to try to escape
  • Neutered cats will not suffer the abscesses from fighting
  • Neutered cats will be less likely to contract diseases such as FeLV and FIV
  • Neutered cats will not be subject to testicular cancer
  • Neutered cats will not likely develop stud tail caused by overactive glands in the tail
  • Neutered cats have a decreased risk of mammary cancer
  • Reduced aggression against other animals. Fewer fights will save you money and aggravation.
  • A spayed or neutered pet is a more relaxed, and loyal member of your family

  • Eliminates the scent that attracts annoying males
  • Eliminates the frantic pacing and crying while in heat
  • Decreases the possibility of mammary tumors
  • Rids you of the worry of what to do with unplanned litters
  • A spayed or neutered pet is a more relaxed, and loyal member of your family
