We can’t even begin to tell you how special this adoption was to ARCN. We adopted a wonderful rescue named Buddy to Tom and Shirley. One month later, Buddy was diagnosed with an incurable case of gingivitis. We did everything we could to save him. When we rescue kitties off the streets we can only hope they are healthy even after a thorough examination from the vet. But poor Buddy, who had been living on the streets, had been neglected too long. There was nothing anyone could do. We all did plenty of crying and were thankful Buddy had a loving home for 30 days in his very short life. Fast forward to today. Tom and Shirley came back to ARCN and adopted Annie (aka Princess). Annie was rescued at a gas station in Gilroy where she was pregnant, starving, and badly injured with a sprained leg. She was hopping around on three legs trying to survive. Towncats, our sister organization (we love them for everything they do for the animals) called us and we immediately rescued Princess after opening a can of tuna! We told Tom and Shirley that Annie was the perfect fit for them. It turned out to be a match made in heaven. Not only is Annie loved dearly, she is Shirley’s office assistant and their constant companion. Annie knows how lucky she is to have the best parents in the world. We can’t tell you how satisfying it is to rescue a cat like Princess who was clearly not destined to survive after being dumped, and to now see her pampered and loved like no other cat. Tom and Shirley, we love you dearly for rescuing Annie and we can only hope she has changed your lives as much as she changed ours. Thank you. You are our family.
