Kitty: Patches
The first time I saw Patches I was shocked. This was the worst case of neglect and abuse I had ever seen. Patches lived at a low income apartment complex under a bush in the dirt, starving and injured. Patches of her hair were gone, she had open wounds all over her body, and she was drooling. I fed her soft food for 30 days until she finally walked into the trap to get her dinner. Success! Patches spent two days at San Martin Veterinary clinic. When we found out Patches was 15 years old we couldn't believe it. How did this old girl have the will to survive! The drooling was from an infection in her mouth. We had to remove what teeth she had left. For us, saving a cat like Patches was the highlight of our rescue efforts in 2004. She will spend the rest of her senior years at our sanctuary where she will be loved and fed. She has her own little house she can call her own and her fur is all grown in. Patches is truly our "senior citizen mascot." Everyone deserves a second chance. Never turn your back on an animal in need.
