Get your tissue box out - this is one of our all time "starts out really sad but has a happy ending" story. Simba's mom was hit and killed by a car at one of our regular colonies. We knew her well and we were devastated when we saw her on the side of the road. We got out to check and see if she was gone. She was. As we walked up to her, a little kitten ran away from her dead body into the bushes. She had babies! We set traps around her and caught only one very small, starving, black kitten who was with his mommy until the very end. Thank goodness we drove by that day because Simba would have never had a chance. We buried his mom in our backyard, and took Simba to the adoption fair where he was quickly adopted by Mai and Jimmy. Because Simba was so playful, they got him a canine playmate. Just look at them wrestle! "You're going down, Mr. Pug!" Thank you Mai and Jimmy for adopting our little orphan kitten. He was very special to us.
